Fly Fishing

Thanks to the abundance of salmon, trout and native species, and thanks to a privileged and remote environment, the Aysén region is one of the favourite places for fly-fishing lovers.

Thanks to the abundance of salmon, trout and native species, and thanks to a privileged and remote environment, the Aysén region is one of the favorite places for fly-fishing lovers.

With its myriad of streams, rivers, lakes, and lagoons, of pure and crystalline waters, Aysén is a real paradise to practice this sport. It is not necessary to be an expert in fishing or to dominate sophisticated techniques in order to participate in entertaining excursions and enjoy a great day of fishing. You only require the basic equipment to be a part of an unforgettable experience.

The selection of the appropriate bait, which must look like an insect, made with fur, strings, and feathers, is an important part of the activity.

Recreational Fishing Regulations

It is necessary to emphasize that in Chile there are laws that regulate recreational fishing, aimed at the protection of the environment and the preservation of natural resources. These regulations limit the amount of fish that can be extracted per day, as well as their minimum size. Remember that the Aysén region always promotes the practice of catch and release.

  • Reference Information: always check the dates at the SERNAPESCA site.

In order to fish without worries, you must have your license at hand, so try not to forget it when you are out fishing. In addition, you must respect the fishing seasons and closure periods, and avoid extracting more fish than is allowed. Avoid fines for not complying with the regulations. These fines can cost between 4 to 10 UTM (monthly tax value.) UTM value in July: $46.757 pesos.

As for the best places for recreational fishing in all its forms, there are excellent areas only a few kilometers away from the main cities of the region. Practicing catch and release is highly suggested.

We would like to highlight that in all these areas, it is possible to find fishing guides or experts who are more than willing to be a part of an unforgettable experience.
